Love Does Not Choose
Harvey Milk says, “it takes no compromise to give people their rights…it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression” (Brainy Quote 1). Same sex marriage is now recognized in all 50 states of the U.S. as well as numerous other countries in our world today. This is between a woman and a woman or a man and a man. Even though it is now recognized, does not mean everyone approves this or feels the need to further allow this act. What is marriage? Marriage is defined as “the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a relationship” (Definition of Marriage). Therefore, same sex marriage fits into the definition of the knowingly complex word marriage. Marriage is between people that care about each other. Marriage is between people that love each other. Marriage is between people that want to spend the rest of their lives together. Marriage between a man and a woman is what was defined as right since before we could remember. The nationwide legalization of same sex marriage as brought great controversy to our country. In the article on Breitbart it says,” the Supreme Court has held there is a 14th amendment right for people of the same sex to marry” (“Supreme Court Says” 1). The United States was the second country to legalize same sex marriage and many more have followed in our footsteps. As many people break laws that have to do with other issues, legalizing this only allows them to make it official. Nothing would have stopped these men and women from being with each other. The only difference is that now they can be true devoted partners to each other. A very large reason that many disapprove of same sex marriage has to do with religious
