In all her moving about Terry did not see the look that broke across Elizabeth’s face, but the others did, and it was one that they had never seen before, cold.
“She died”.
Terry looked up suddenly, obviously surprised by the sudden change in Elizabeth’s voice, “how did she die?” she asked more reverently
“Terry!” Laura came springing over, “come on, didn’t you promise me that we were going to go over outfits for Marco Vensula’s party this Saturday”.
“Oh my gosh!” Terry exclaimed excitedly, “I totally forgot to finish telling you about that”, she turned her back to Laura, facing Carissa, “every year one of the Vensula boys throws a party, this year its that dream brother, Marco, you four should totally come to the party, it is going to be super fun! Elizabeth looked back once, a small wind had picked up, brushing her locks to the side with a ghostly whisper.
Carissa stood still for that split second, the wood beneath her feet creaking. Everything was starting to feel surreal again, as if she were walking through a dream.
As Carissa listened to the soft music being made by leaves, the creek that ran beneath her, and, distant chimes, she wondered how this dream would end, because she wasn’t sure if she could handle another nightmare.
Elizabeth moved on again, the wind picking up as she went, making everything around her sway.
Carissa followed as best she could, but she couldn’t help but get distracted every now and again. It started when she passed an old stone well, there was still water in it, but no bucket, it had obviously not been touched for a very long time. Rubbing her hands along the smooth stone edges, Carissa looked down into it, wondering if it would grant her a wish.
On they continued, Carissa following at her slow pace, even as it became darker and Elizabeth grew farther
