People with lesser crimes were given prison and death sentences, so the Bird began a new life- selling insurance. His job made him very rich.
Louis was reunited with his family, and started one of his own. His only desire was to kill the Bird, which led him to drink more than a person should. His wife convinced him to meet Billy Graham, which happened to change his life.
Louis still wanted more than anything to go to Japan, but not to kill the Bird. He forgave his former classmate, his guards and everyone that he met at camp. He spoke about his experiences all over the world. Louis learned, in Japan, that the Bird was number 23 on the top-40 list, and likely would have, captured and tried, been given a death sentence.
In 1952, the Bird came back in to the public face. He had hid in a wooden cabin in the wilderness. He and Louis set a date to meet but the meeting never happened. The Bird’s family had no idea about what the Bird had done or his war-crimes
