Introduction:
Oh no how has uncle got me into this! In this essay i'm going to be talking about a character from the novel Lost In The Barrens, he goes by the name of Jamie. He was forced to live with his uncle in the Cree camp in Northern Canada as he could not afford to keep him in boarding school in Toronto. Jamie had no survival skills what so ever and had no idea how he was going to survive. He quickly became friends with a boy the same age as him called Awasin. In this essay i’m going to talk about why I enjoyed reading about Jamie. My three reasons why I like reading about Jamie are How Jamie and Awasin's communication was key to them surviving, all Jamie's Qualities he showed over the book and how Jamie changed physically and mentally over the book.

How Jamie and Awasin's communication was key to them surviving:
Jamie and Awasin went on a hunting trip with another group of people called the Deereaters. The leader of their camp was called Denikazi and we was meant to be looking after the boys over the whole hunting trip, a few days in the boys split from Denikazi and his

Over the book Jamie became more confident in the bush as he learned lot's of survival tactics from Awasin who had lot's of experience in the bush. Jamie showed respect to all members of the Cree camp, the Deereaters and of course Awasin, But one quality that took him awhile to truly use was leadership. Awasin was a born leader over Jamie came into the bush knowing nothing. Jamie started showing leadership over Awasin in parts of the book as he became more confident. For Example When the boys lost Denikazi one morning Jamie said to Awasin “Nevermind breakfast we’ll try catch Denikazi instead”. This Shows Jamie making decisions over Awasin. I think that Jamie's qualities were outstanding and really showed how much of a good man he

Since all events and actions are set in motion by past events, Montag is not responsible for his murderous and destructive actions; but being that Montag has a sense of freedom he is responsible for how he went about doing those actions. An event or action is caused by another event or action that comes before it. A prime example of this is shown is the quotation “A new Mechanical Hound has been brought from another district.”…

Throughout the novel “The Sun Also Rises,” by Ernest Hemingway, the characters are often represented as “lost” both mentally and physically, in negative and positive ways. This is evident when Brett announces, “I won’t be one of those bitches,” exclaiming that she is finally coming to realize who she wants to be and what she wants from a man(247). This is negative because she was “lost” and was abusing her self-worth proving that she was physically misusing her body, but mentally she thought she was smart enough to not be “one of those bitches.” The main character Jake however, was “lost” in a positive way as he thinks to himself, “It felt strange to be in France again. There was a safe, suburban feeling,” explaining that Jake felt comfort…

While reading, it is noticed that Tyler rarely used words to describe each character, but instead used specific events or the opinions from another character to paint the true nature and morals of the specific character. The memory of the archery trip was a story that was brought up by almost all family members and it is this story that Tyler chose to use as an opening for the first chapter following Cody (35). Instead of directly stating the traits of Cody, Tyler provided a scene that showcased who Cody was and the results his actions had on him and others around him. The comprehensive way in which the characters were developed created a depth and realism to them which allowed readers to form connections with the novel. One downside to writing from multiple point of views, is that it can become overwhelming for the reader to follow along.…
