The First Colony Foundation have been excavating the area around where the Roanoke islands were for years. Recently they have found a map that looks to be drawn by John White with a huge X marked a little inland from where the colony of Roanoke was. This area happens to be modern day Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The archaeologist say they are pretty confident that this proves that the Roanoke colonist were most likely here. While this isn’t all of the answers it is a great new start to continue the investigation so one day with advancement in technology that we might know what happened to the colonists of Roanoke.
