Survival is difficult. You could have an tree fall on you, a shark bite, or just get lost and have no idea what to do. All these things take a toll on your body. Many cases of survival have resulted in injured body parts. War survivors have lost legs, arms and other things. Survivors alone in dangerous territory often get hurt and then wounds could get infected. For instance, Aron Ralston, a hiker, was going on a hike and got stuck with his arm under a rock. Boorman was veteran of the Gulf War and spent many years jumping out of an plane. Too many years. The results were chronic knee and back pain.
