Loss Of Knowledge In Fahrenheit 451

In the story the character Montag changes the view of world and tries to spread knowledge but there are many obstacles in his way. Captain Beatty is one of those major conflicts but he also connects to Montag. Beatty has knowledge and instead of trying to share it with people he would rather keep it to himself. They contribute to the theme by giving us two sides of their opinion. In the story Montag is becoming more and more curious by the day, Beatty realizes this. This causes conflict between both characters and how they act. Montag believes that everyone should be able to have knowledge and realizing the dream they are living. Montag started off as burning books and didn’t think much of it, until someone opens his mind and wakes him up. Clarisse is a 16 year old girl that Montag meets she starts to wake him up and helps Montag find his true feelings. A quote to support this claim is “of course I’m happy. What does she think? I’m not.” This shows Montag wake up and realize that he wasn’t happy and caused himself to question himself more. Montag has to keep his knowledge of books secrete and can’t easily rephrase back to quotes. They both have an idea of how books should be used and what they can connect to. Montag has a different opinion though, he believes sharing knowledge with the people is the best idea, but is uncertain of what he must do. He goes to Faber a professor who reads books and they come up with a plan. A quote to support this is “Montag, I can sit comfortably home, warming my frightened bones, and hear and analyses the firemen's world, find its weaknesses, without danger.” This shows that Montag is going to be transmitting everything back to Faber and make a plan to destroy the fire man. Montag is trying to make something new while Beatty is trying to keep the same thing as it
