The animals lost their freedom and equality due to ignorance. All the animals saw so many bad actions they decided to not do anything about it even tho it affected them, they were also told so many lies the pigs who were the leaders make sure them believe them to be able to control them.

For example napoleon gives himself credit for every good thing that happened, napoleon also took advantage of their hard work and changing the commandments,he also made them work more hours and gave them less food. The only thing napoleon wants is to gain total power over the farm and control the animals. Napoleon also makes the dogs chase snowball out the farm and took the idea of the windmill.
