On June 25, 2009, Jackson was found unconscious in his home in Los Angeles by his personal physician, Conrad Murray. Murray administered CPR before calling 9-1-1. She was in the cafeteria when she looked up at the TV, trying to find distraction. She saw the words “Michael Jackson Dead” on a news headline. Ambulances, policeman, and grieving fans surrounding his home and the hospital she guessed he had died at. “I just couldn’t believe it,” Gaines gasped. Susan has been a fan of Jackson since she was a young girl. “Michael Jackson was the cute front guy of a boy band, so as a young girl, it was so cool seeing him,” Susan says.
