Losing Table Number 5 Daniel was no ordinary girl. According to her granddad, she was very unique. He would always tell her that she was capable of doing remarkable things in the near future, but Daniel didn’t believe her granddad. Daniel and her granddad were the only two people left in the Everstein family. They lived in a dirty old shack behind an elegant penthouse. Daniel couldn’t go to college because they couldn’t afford it. This was why she worked as a waitress in an old-fashioned diner. You would think that Daniel would be the skinniest and smallest girl you’d ever see because of her poverty, but she wasn’t. She had a very low metabolism, causing her to gain an extra pound each time she took the tiniest bite of food. It was very hard for her to overcome the hundred pounds of fat that stuck to her body like superglue. She didn’t have any confidence due to her weight; Daniel also didn’t know what she wanted to do in life. …show more content…
Daniel came home to find that her grandpa wasn’t there. Later that night, she got a call from the hospital.
“What!” She screamed. She ran towards the hospital with tears in her eyes.
“I’m sorry,” the doctor said. Daniel cried until she could cry no more. She was alone now.
The next day arrived; Daniel stood in front of the penthouse, staring up at the sky with her lips quivering. The doorman called Sandy to ask if Daniel should go up. Emotionless, Daniel went up the elevator. Sandy opened the door with a proud smile. Daniel went on the sofa; her eyes filled with tears.
“My grandpa. He―he passed away yesterday. He’s gone; I’m the only one alive now,” Daniel cried. Sandy sat next to her, comforting her, and giving her his shoulder to cry on.
“I’m sorry for your loss. Now this is going to be your motivation. Do it for family!” Sandy said. Daniel stopped mourning and wiped the tears off her

Jessica Risner Heather Ward English 1101-41 October 5, 2015 “Love You Forever” Literary Analysis One of my favorite stories to read to my daughter is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. The story is about a mother who sneaks into her son’s room, once he is sleeping, and sings a song to him. She sings to him these words “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be (pg. 14).” My favorite part about this story is that once her son is a teenager, and even a grown adult, she still sneaks into his room and sings her song to him.…

That particular scene had began with Phyllis telling Daniel that it’s raining out as they are driving. Instead of responding back, Daniel’s gaze is focused on the raindrops as they are hitting his windshield. The text states, “... he fixed on one drop and followed its career. The idea was that his attention made it different from the other drops. It arrived, head busted, with one water bead as a nucleus and six or seven clusters in a circle around it” (55).…

At age 11 I sit there in the living room in front of my television, listening to the popping of kernels as I anxiously snuggle up into my blanket, with my family, awaiting to watch our weekly Tuesday night show, “The Biggest Loser”. That show is how my love for health and wanting to study it started, therefore the article that most connected with me was “My Soul to Keep, My Weight to Lose” by Alice Randall. This story stood out to me because Randall does a good job capturing the many aspects that contribute to your weight journey. In this story, Randall gives the audience an insight on how losing weight is complicated yet rewarding.…
