Los Mochis-Personal Narrative

Decent Essays
I woke up and I only had two hours of sleep, and my flight was leaving in two more hours. My head was pounding, I had a terrible headache and my throat was dry and in need of water, so I drank lots of Gatorade to avoid dehydration. My father picked me up at Renata’s house, and then we went to pick up my luggage and my aunts who were traveling back to the United States with me. Guasave had no airport so we had to go to Los Mochis; it was a thirty minutes drive and all I had in my mind was how much I would miss my family and friends, my mom cooking, my favorite places in Guasave such as Aroma café, the beach, the seafood, and the delicious restaurants. Also, I would miss the great times I always have with my friends, like last night.

When arriving at Tenneco Automotive, I was welcomed by upper management, department leads and all other personnel. Weeks after I started, I was amazed each employee, plant manager to cleaning crew, demonstrated three particular values; integrity, perseverance and teamwork on a daily basis. These standards were their culture. Employees came to know and love the Tenneco way by spending 40-70 hours a week demonstrating what it really means to be a successful Tenneco employee.…

In my heritage, when a girl reaches the age of fifteen there family throws a symbolic party for them, the celebration is called Quinceañera. It is viewed as a way in which a girl becomes a woman. Nothing was making me more excited than the idea of trying a new type of wine, this “Amontillado”, that my friend offered me to taste and judge, to have an opinion from my point of view. I think he is not entirely convinced of the quality of his product and wants me to check it out., since he’s aware of my big knowledge in the field. I start feeling a little confused, because of all the liquors and different alcoholic beverages he made me drink during our little journey underground, but I’m sure that we are very close to find the barrel. Here we are! My friend brings me in a little room made with three walls and he starts giving me details about the wonderful wine I’m about to taste.…

I woke up in Los Mochis, anxious to get on with our day. The next stop was Mazatlan, which is on the Pacific Coast of Mexico across from the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. We were only planning to stay there long enough to get fuel and eat lunch. In the mid-1800’s, a large group of German immigrants transformed Mazatlan from a native fishing village into a thriving seaport. One of their continuing legacies is the local music which is called Banda and is a variation of Bavarian folk music.…

Leaving the safety of the United States and traveling into another country seemed frightening on March 19, 2014. The trip was a trip to a foreign land, and an atmosphere full of people and culture my eyes have not once made contact with. I was extremely excited to take such a journey, yet I had never felt such a pounding fear of the unknown strangle my thoughts, such as the one the day I boarded my flight. I traveled to Chiquimula, Guatemala for a mission trip along with my father and many friends from church. I originally thought was going on a trip for me to bless others in need.…

It was an early Monday morning, I was pretty happy at the time because this trip was going to get me out of a full week of school. So, it all began at the airport, looking out of the window I could see our plane, It was a bit intimidating and I was really nervous because this was going to be my first time on a plane. Nevertheless, I had nothing to worry about though because soon enough I would come to realize that, the time I would be spending in Puerto Rico would teach me to truly enjoy the great experiences in life. So we were off, I could not wait to begin my adventure in Puerto Rico and meet all the amazing new people. When my grandmother and I landed in Puerto Rico I had no idea what I was in for, we planned the trip last minute and had no plans when we got there, or so that's what I anticipated.…

It must be remembered that at this time in world history, the Cold War between the Democratic West and Soviet Communism was in full swing, with no end in sight. The Soviets and their satellite nations such as Cuba were deeply engaged in wars of expansion, for example the many guerrilla wars to spread communism all over the world, and even in a direct invasion (by the USSR itself) of Afghanistan just a few months earlier. Families that had escaped communist nations, and who had left family members behind would spend many years before it would be possible to visit and see their relatives again. So this was very much in the minds of all the adults as the last good-byes were being said. Then came time to leave.…

I am Manson, not that names really matter, it's just another label somebody else placed over you. I was born in small town, Kaneri 1968, named after a secret society that existed before the World War I. Back then the land was deserted and lost in the maps, hence the favorite destination for wanderers and the once who seek to flee but now decades later every crack and corner you can spot here is something every painter would crave to capture on a canvas. In this town, most people earn their livelihood out of the land.…
