*The author 's purpose for making this point is to show readers that you cannot live life without having both worlds in your mind, your present and your past. This shows readers that although you can change yourself, that you cannot ignore who you used to be. This shows that you cannot completely change yourself and your life and leave your past behind, that your past helps and sometimes alters your progress in life. The life lessons this book provide us with are exorbitant.
5. *I think this purpose is helpful for readers to teach them further about life, and I definitely think the author achieves it. He shows us aspects of his life that some readers can relate to and that others can learn from, either way it is helpful to readers. It shows readers the way of life for some people and how they manage to deal with it, which is didactic in showing us how we can deal with things in our own lives.
6. *I personally think that the author seems to be addressing himself to strangers, people he never expects to meet in real life. *The author is discreet with this subject because the subject involving culture affects and settles with everyone differently. If the author says that he is not an underprivileged Mexican-American, then the other Mexicans become angry with him and assume he is denying his heritage. However, if he agrees that he is and underpriviledged person like the others then that is not necessarily true, and then "los gringos" assume that he just wants the privileges that they are being handed too.. The author does not want to be treated differently because of his unsimilar culture and heritage either way, and at this point what he says is futile because people disagree with his statements
