i. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was first established in 1910 in Exposition Park and in 1965 it was opened to the public in its new Wilshire Boulevard location. Since 1965, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art has been devoted to collecting works of art is both historic and geographic. Today the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is the largest art museum in the western United States, with a collection that includes over 120,000 artworks dating from antiquity to present time. ii. The Hammer Museum was founded in 1990 by the entrepreneur-industrialist Armand Hammer to house his personal art collection, but soon after the museum was opened to the public in November 1990 he died and the museum continued on. The Hammer Museum has five collections in total: Armand Hammer Collection which features works of art from the sixteenth through twentieth century that reflects the interest and dedication of Armand Hammer; Armand Hammer Daumier and contemporaries collection which is one of the world’s most extensive collection that comprises more than seventy-five hundred artworks by nineteenth-century French satirist Honoré Daumier; Hammer contemporary collection which started in 2005 and it is a growing collection of international contemporary art since 1960 with a special focus on Los Angeles based artists and works on paper; Grunworld Center collection which one of America’s finest collections of work on paper containing more than 45,000 prints, drawings, photographs and artists’ books from the Renaissance to the present; and Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden is among the most distinguished outdoor sculpture collection featuring more than 70 modern and contemporary works set in five beautifully landscaped acres of the UCLA
