Born Loretta Webb on April 14, 1932, in Butcher Hollow, Kentucky, Lynn grew up in poverty in the heart of Appalachia. I feel personally connected with Loretta Lynn because I grew up listening to her. My mother would play her music often when we were cleaning, getting ready, riding in the vehicle, and any time she got a chance. We sat down and watched the movie about her life titled “Coal Miner's Daughter” many times. I have been to many of her concerts over the years, mainly in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I visited Loretta’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, and met her granddaughter, Tayla Lynn. I got Tayla’s autograph and took a picture with her. I grew up around her music and learning about her, so I feel that I am personally connected to her.
