Lord Will You Make Me Clean?
Matthew 8:1-4 NIV
1When Jesus had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed him; 2 and there was a leper who came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you choose, you can make me clean.” 3 He stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I do choose. Be made clean!” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 Then Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
Oftentimes in life people lean and depend on you more than they depend on God. They expect you to fix all there problems, to give them an encouraging word, to loan them money or just have a shoulder to lay their head on. It is

I can image that he was lonely, looked down upon, and accused of committing the worst sin that anyone could commit. We learn from the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus 13 that anyone with leprosy was to be put outside the camp and declared unclean. His only hope was Jesus. The text does not point out how long he had leprosy. It does not point out any family member or anybody trying to help this man, because of the disease being deadly. He was not allowed close to anyone and could not be touched. He believed that Jesus was the one to fix his problem. In believing he ran to Jesus by faith. His belief in Jesus demonstrated faith in Christ. He had faith that Jesus could save him from death. This is the same faith that the world need to be saved from their sin. This is the same faith each one of us here today need to be saved from our sins. This man was confessing that Jesus could make him whole. This man was believing in his heart that Jesus could fix his situation. What about you today do you believe Jesus can fix your situation? Do you believe Jesus can save your soul? The Bible says confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead and you will be saved. For it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved (Rom.10:9-10). This man was believing Jesus was …show more content…
There was a little boy demon possessed and they brought him to Jesus. Jesus asked how long has he been like this? And his father said, “From childhood. It has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you are able to do anything, have pity on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you are able!—All things can be done for the one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:20-24). God provided deliverance for the man’s son because he believed. We in our world must believe on the God who can do the impossible. He will provide salvation to anyone who puts their trust in the Savior of the world Jesus the

Today marks the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Governor-General Georges-Phileas Vanier on March 5, 1967. The night before he had told Prime Minister Lester Pearson by phone that, though his health was frail, he was prepared to soldier on through Canada’s Centennial Year. But on Sunday morning, after Mass in the chapel he had installed in Rideau Hall when he began his term of office, he died. Vanier was the nineteenth person to hold the office of Governor-General of Canada and the first French-Canadian to do so. When, on Sept. 15, 1959, Georges Vanier took office as governor general of Canada he spoke words that were seen as admirable at the time but sound dated in today’s secular context.…

In the book “Half Truths”, written by Adam Hamilton, a senior pastor at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Pastor Hamilton questions whether common phrases used by people are actually true or Christian. Phrases such as “everything happens for a reason, God helps those who help themselves, and God said it, I believe it, that settles it.” Pastor Hamilton uses scriptural references from the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Bible to break down these phrases and clarify the meaning of them to his readers. He also expresses that although most people have good intentions for quoting these phrases, they “…can sometime hurt people and lead people to conclusions about God that not only are not true but that may push some people away…

n chapter 3 of Jesus Behaving Badly, Mark Strauss addresses the issue of Jesus being someone who cures diseases and someone who is angry or loving. Reading this chapter I feel that Jesus is the loving type because he doesn’t reject anyone from knowing him. He wants people to know him and can share the gospel to other people so that when judgement day comes they will go to heaven rather than hell. One verse that stood out to me was Mark 1:33-34, “The whole town gathered at the door, and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.…

My favorite character was kind of obvious but it was the “patient”. He grew quite a bit as the time past and he came from being a non believer to a humble Christian. Interestingly enough the reason for that was because Wormwood was not a good tempter. Now, C.S. Lewis explained at the beginning of the book that “Readers are advised to remember that the devil is a liar. Not everything that Screwtape says should be.…

I would like to discuss certain passages in each chapter that have a significant impact on my life. Matt. 5: 40-45 Jesus talks about loving your enemy, those that hate you, use you, or persecute you. No matter what happens don’t hate those around you, they are children of God just like you are. I like the way he starts off these verses.…

A Separate Peace by John Knowles expresses biblical allusions and Greek mythology through most of the primary characters. The figures of Adam and Eve, Judas, Apollo, Pan, Phthonus, and Jesus are all strongly alluded to throughout the book within the characters of Gene, Finny, Leper and Brinker. This will be strongly demonstrated through the following comparisons of Greek myths and biblical stories and, the events that surround the characters of A Separate Peace. The story of Adam and Eve is quite simple; God created a man named Adam and gave him a wife by taking one of Adam’s ribs to form her.…

The gospel of Luke is unique from the other synoptic gospels because not only was he Greek, he converted to Christianity and portrayed Jesus as a man filled with spirit; a man of prayer and compassion, especially for the oppressed and for people living on the fringes of society. Luke presented Jesus in such way that he can be seen as a verifiable historical figure, as a teacher and an important prophet in the bible. He also recognises the women in Jesus life, and includes parables about then and gives the recognition, unlike other gospels. The Gospel of Luke was written around the same time as that of Matthew, around the mid-80s of the first century CE and was written in the most refined Greek of any gospels in the New Testament. Like Matthew,…

Not In a Corner I Divine Healing always is always a controversial topic in both Christian and secular circles. It was commanded as an essential ministry by Jesus and was intimately tied to the proclaiming of the Gospel. It has been faithfully sought after in prayer by the Christian Church through the ages to the present. “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; and the Lord will raise him up.…

How My Faith Defines Who I Am Faith: having a strong belief in a religion, or an even stronger belief in a God. I personally believe in God the Father, and that he created each and every one of us in his own image. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sin and brought us new life through his death and resurrection. In my faith I stand as a Catholic, which means I believe in only one God. However, God is three persons, also known as the Holy Trinity, meaning there is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.…
