The tale begins with a man named christopher sly denying to pay for the glass he smashed before falling asleep drunk. Soon after A Lord walks in with his huntsmen, talking about the hunting dogs, upon seeing the drunk man A Lord gets an idea, he decides to play a prank on Sly making Sly believe he is a lord who has been asleep for 15 years. A Lord orders the servants to treat sly like a lord and the page to dress as lords sly’s wife. When sly wakes up he believe everyone is trying to drive him crazy by insisting that he is a lord, but soon begins to believe the lie. Moments later actors appear to put on a play for lord sly. Watching the play are Lord Sly, the lord's wife (Page), and a servant (A Lord) .

Grumio than goes on to tell the journy of arriving home including a part about kate falling iin the mud with her horse on top of her and how she pulled herself out of the mud and preyed for putruchio to stop beating grumio. Wher putruchio and katherine return, purtchio makes a big fuss over everything and even strickes the servents. After telling katherine theyll go without food fr the night, he returns to the servents to inform them that this is how hell tame the shrew. Next lucentio (Tranio) and litio (hortentio) spy on bianca and cambio (Lucentio) watching how they look in love. litio (hortentio) than confesses his true identy and vows to not marry bianca and declares his intent to marry a widow. Tranio Lucentio and Bianca discuse how biancas suiters have decided not to marry her and thans talk about the school on how to tame a shrew taught by Petruchio. Luncentio (Tranio) is still on the hunt for a fake father and happens upon one, he tells a merchent that if he continues on his journey because of where hes from he will be killed. To continue to live the merchant agrees to disgue himself as Lucentios father Vincentio, and to agree to the dowery. katherine , still going hungry snd tired to do petruchios antics, begs grumio for something to eat, grumio replies twith diffrent types of dishes before stating that they would never due. Katherine quickly relizes that grumio is only feeding her the idea of food and wont actually give her any. Later katherine and petruchio are getting ready for a trip to her families house upon seeing the garments created petruchio makes a fuss about all of them and when katherine states that she likes them and theyre what everyone is waring, petruchio replys with when katherine is gentle she will also ware
