There are many similarities and differences between “Lord of the Flies” and Alive. In Alive, the movie tells the story of a South American rugby team that gets stranded on a mountain whereas in “Lord of the Flies” a group of British schoolboys become stranded on an island due to a plane crash. The setting and characters are very different but, the conflict and theme are very similar. In the conflict both groups survive a plane crash. Alive and “Lord of the Flies” both have a similar conflict. For example, they both involve a plane crash. In “Lord of the Flies” an entire plane full of British schoolboys crash on a deserted island. In “Lord of the flies” they attempt to keep their civility and to be organized but lack of discipline leads to conflict. For example, Jack can't handle being told what to do. He attempts to take control over the group from Ralph which destroys any civil democracy they have. After Jack starts his own clan, they all have the same goals and ambitions on the island. Ralph and his small group of followers slowly dwindled away as Jack's group become the most organized. In Alive they start out very organized and consistent at rationing food. Things go well until they falsely believe they will be rescued and devour the remaining chocolates. They soon resort to cannibalism and a divide of the group. In “Lord of the Flies” the characters are young. The characters age ranges from 5-11 years old. They use their youth to help them get through any obstacles and put it together with the little knowledge they know. In Alive, all of the characters are above the age of 18. This is an advantage because it helps them use a map and survive because because they are very knowledgeable. In Alive though, the elder lady that is screaming probably can not take as much pain as a tough younger boy. In Alive they are very religious and even pray the rosary often. They think about what God would do in their position and say they can feel him on the mountain. In “Lord of the Flies” the boys never mention religion. They become savages instead and worship a pig's head. The characters actions determine the outcome of the groups getting saved even though their actions are not
