“What are we? Humans? Or Animals? Or Savages?” (William Golding). Everyone has questioned their existence every once and awhile. Humans come so far and some are still are not capable to stay sane. We need people around us, rules to keep us in shape, but when someone is pulled from all of that do they act out or will they try to keep that normalism they are so use to having. William Golding believed humans are truly messed up in the head. In the novel Lord of the Flies, Golding really shows in the characters how people can be evil even for a quick moment. Anyone can be nice like Ralph but at some point they will snap and turn nuts like Jack. The three main lessons that people can learn from the Lord of the Flies are fear makes a leader, to survive people need teamwork, and kill with reason. The first reason is fear makes a leader. To be a leader a person has to be brave, kind, responsable, but also needs to be a hunter, and most of the time they need to a fearful person. Ralph was a great leader but he couldn't be feared like Jack was. For example Jack says “ No! How could we-kill-it?” (160). Even though there is no beast, Jack still tells the littluns that there is one. Another example is “ And they keep running off. You remember the meeting? How everyone was going to work hard until the shelters were finished?” (50). Ralph was to nice and a go with the flow kinda person, so everyone thought he was just suggesting it not ordering them around.everyone trusted him but he wasn't good at keeping their attention, he didn't hunt, he just came up with plans and kept everyone in line. Jack was feared by everyone, he was the one to kill pigs, so that they can eat, but that's the only thing he could do. Second reason that the audience can learn is to survive …show more content…
In Lord of the Flies, sticking together and working together was their way to stay civilized. “ We’ll build a pile. Come on” (39). The fire was one of a couple big part in the book . If the fire was going they had a more chance of getting saved but that means they had to work together and take turns keeping the fire going. The other example is when the group split and both had big problems. Piggy says “I mean-to make sure nothing happens” (148). Ralph and his group can't hunt, so they need Jack’s group. “ they’ve got our fire” (169). Jack’s group can’t start the fire without piggy’s …show more content…
It truly shows a good idea of what us humans would act if we were pulled from our normal life styles. I enjoyed see all the different of the characters personalities change over time. This book opens your eyes a little on how evil some of us can be. People can relate to at least one character in this novel. You can be Piggy, who is smart or you can be Ralph, who is a born leader. Lord of the Flies was great at show us some lessons like fear makes a leader, to survive people need teamwork, and kill with reason. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action. This book can also teach and open our eyes a little more on humanity and

Lord of the Flies displays that even through our evolved mannerisms, when placed under circumstances of unmonitored power and/or pressure, we will resort back to brutality. In both Lord of the Flies and “The Stanford Prison Experiment” the people involved assume new personalities in a relatively short period of time. They forget the truth of the situation and focus on only what concerns them, leaving behind all morals, and seemingly adopting an abusive relationship with all others against them. Pack mentalities are formed and sense of ambient anonymity makes inflicting pain on others so mindless. Compiled with the loss of individuality, people are no longer people but rather an obstacle to your existence.…

Golding created a story where a large group of British boys crash land on an island and are stranded. In the beginning, the boys try to stay civilized by selecting a leader and following that leader and a direct set of rules. Ralph one of two-man characters was chosen as leader. Brian Joseph Professor Harmon English 9-2 23 November 2017 Bad Happens to the Well-Intentioned Lord of The Flies embodies many themes, but none is so special as the one that related to me the most. In the 1954 novel, Lord of the Flies, author William Golding uses symbolism, dialogue, irony, and foreshadowing to illuminate the gloomy truth that people who have good intentions and follow what they believe to be right, especially when unpopular, will be misunderstood, misjudged, and sadly, punished. Ralph, Piggy, and Simon fall under the category of “well-intentioned people.”…
