Lord of the flies, for example, reveals the internal struggle of civilization versus savagery one might face. Fiction might provide a sense of revelation in the way one perceives different points of view, in fiction and/or life.
Fiction also heighten one’s sense of empathy, or maybe lack thereof. By reading about death, or suffering for example, one exercises the ability to feel what someone else is feeling. Reaching all corners of a character’s mind and taking a familiarity and interest to them, and then something miserable happening to them makes the reader feel even more attached to the character.
