The failure to continue with their government under Ralph, caused them degenerate as they were now under no government and free to do as they please because of Jack. Personally, this novel taught me that rules are always necessary despite how they make you feel restricted. Rules, Laws, and Values help us maintain order and keep us safe from becoming complete savages. I gained a new perspective towards the law and how crucial its existence is to Humanity.
In the play Othello, Shakespeare illustrated the force the theme illusion versus reality has on the lives of individuals. Iago is the prime example of an illusion, throughout the play he disguised himself as a friend of Othello, Desdemona, Roderigo, and Cassio in order to gain Othello’s position. William Golding, having served in World War II, knew about the egregious disasters that could arise from brainwashing, detrimental influences. So, in order to ensure history would not repeat itself, Golding emphasized the slippery-slope nature of sinister influences on society in his novel, Lord of the Flies, namely through character development. Initially in the plot, the boys willingly agree to “have rules and obey them” (Golding, 42) claiming that they have “got to do the right things” (42). However, the boys, ultimately, end up clashing between, and changing their opinions on the values they advocate for in the beginning, like peace, and the opposites of those values, such as savagery. It all starts with the “beastie” (35).…

As well, others may think of something similar, something not very drastic or heinous. However, in Khaled Hosseini’s novel The Kite Runner, Amir’s actions toward Hassan cause great pain and guilt that last through his adulthood only to eventually lead to a path of redemption. In the novel, Lord of The Flies, Golding makes good use of the characters by showing both good and evil through each of them, but by the end of the novel it is evident that inherent evil exists in all of the boys. Golding makes it apparent how the boys transform from being civilized to savage, ritualistic beasts. From the time the boys landed on the island, the first signs of the boy’s evil appears.…

William Golding’s Lord of the Flies writes about the ideas of people’s personalities and the evil within the human heart. Set within an island, a group of young boys set out to survive and be rescued; however, it is later seen how the boys end up being wild and savage when they’re left without adult supervision. Golding depicts Simon as a scapegoat whose exceptional persona on an island of chaos and anarchy makes him a target for the stranded boys’ hatred/evil. Starting early on in the novel, Simon shows a caring, generous personality, which becomes a stigma that he is “unique” in comparison to the other boys. Even though the norm for the biguns on the beach was to ignore or not help the littluns; Simon was different in that, “Simon found…

The tragedy of Othello was highly influenced by Iago’s manipulation of perception. This was illustrated, when Iago exploited Rodrigo’s unrealistic and self-serving love for Desdemona. Also, including when Iago willfully misled Cassio’s judgement by utilizing his fixation with class. And notably demonstrated, with Iago as he precisely disoriented Othello’s reassurance in his wife, Desdemona’s faithfulness. Othello was fused to the idea of an uncertain reality that was deliberately deceived by Iago.…

In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, conflict - both internal and external - portrays a major development in the theme and plot of the young boys in this novel. On an island composed of only pre-adolescent boys, it is unquestionable that there would be conflict amongst them. Golding blatantly shows the reader the external conflicts that occur between one another, including both physical and verbal altercations. The author also cryptically gives the reader a display of the conflict the boys struggle with within themselves and their own thoughts. Despite the many instances of external conflict, the subtle internal conflicts are much more critical to the plot and overall theme of Lord of the Flies.…
