Edmund Burke said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for the good men to do nothing.” In Lord of the Flies, as the book progresses, evil starts to take of the island. People change from good to evil in unusual circumstances as those presented in the book. Throughout the book the reader can see this theme build up as civilization turns into savagery. Golding represents his characters as evil through the beast. Therefore, in Lord of the Flies by William Golding, humans are innately evil.
