The main theme that I think is the theme of the story is grief. The reason I think this is because the kids are stuck on an island with no adults to guide them. That set some into emotional grief and then the had voted for Ralph as the chief because he seemed to be the only person that showed leadership. At this Jack puts his part of the book, as the antagonis. Jacks ways were violent and how he took the power over Ralph was cruel. Jack had made his ways of leading look fun to the littluns and the biguns. Behind all of this in emotion and grief within Ralph was just pain. It shows how the simple dark thought can put scary thoughts into the kid's mind to make them realize that they are stranded on the island. The beast not only helps theme get more obvious it shows that one little thing could lead to another then another etc... The Beast is the main conflict of the story besides Jack departing. The central theme of Lord of the Flies is the conflict of the instinct act peacefully, to live by rules, follow moral commands, and value the good of the group against someone who takes control by violently the one who is a really good leader.over others, and enforce one’s will.
