Lord Of The Flies Essay Introduction

Lord of the flies, by William Golding, is an adventure on a different island. The first person that we hear from is the main character, Ralph. He and his companion for this book, Piggy, end up on this island full of boys, who are seen progressively later on. The first thing that they find as significant on this island is the conch, which will be a symbol of unity for all the boys for a small part of this book, even though this conch will stay till later in the book. Immediately through dialogue we find out the exposition from Piggy, who explains that they were involved in a plane crash, or attack of some kind. Piggy and Ralph collectively give us the details on the crash, while the readers try to think of if there were other survivors. While …show more content…
After all of this is settled, Ralph sets up the expedition team, full of Ralph, Jack, and a kid named Simon, who will have more explained of him later, that will decide the exact place where they are at, and after going onto the highest point of the island, they determine that they are on an island, and decide that to get rescued, they must make a fire on top of the mountain, which in turn, they accidentally burn a part of the island down. After we see Ralph and friends building huts to live in, we finally get a direct characterization of Simon, who we first saw on the expedition, who is found sneaking around trying to find a quiet place for his self. After he looks around a bit, he finally finds a place to sit, and this place, will end up playing a big role at the end of the book for Ralph. At the gathering where they decide to build a fire, we get a listen in on the main antagonist that the characters, except for Simon, don’t know
