Piggy lost both of his parents at a very young age, so he lived with his aunt who always wanted him to feel good. Piggy is very wise for his age, for example he came up with the idea to use the conch and maybe he feels as if he can gain some kind of respect when he is using the conch. For the entire book, Piggy has been ignored and not treated that well. Nobody cared about him or his ideas, but when he is dead, Ralph notices and realizes how important he was. Piggy's symbolism has become quite clear over the course of the book; he represents civilization. Golding, I believe, was trying to show how people take civilization for granted and that no one really appreciates until it's gone. Now with Piggy gone, the entire island is chaos.…

Piggy’s glasses are significance of hope and intelligence through the growth of humanity. In the novel Jack states,”Piggy specs, if the fire’s all out we’ll need them,”(Golding 76).This shows how Piggy’s glasses are a useful tool for the boys and without Piggy’s intelligence the boys wouldn't have survived on the island. Also the fact, Piggy’s glasses are used as a positive attribute, however at the same time are used as a negative attribute of destroying humanity. As the boys change, the glasses are becoming misused,”Ralph made a step forward and Jack smacked Piggy’s head,”Piggy’s glasses flew off and tinkled on the rock,”(Golding 71).The boy misuse the glasses by fighting over it to make fire and picking on piggy because Ralph always defend…

Ever since the beginning of the novel, Piggy has always been the logical character that follows the ideas of the superego. What differentiates Piggy from the rest of the boys on the island is that he retained most of his moral standards ( with the exception of assisting in the murder of Simon). Piggy has always voiced his opinion on the correct thing to do, but never has been accredited with these ideas. He was the only variable in the equation that remained constant, independent of the environment. This is particularly interesting because the idea of surviving a plane crash and landing on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean would probably change a person’s mindset into prioritizing survival.…

In order to survive, they form their own version of society by electing Ralph as their leader and establishing rules to keep order. After the initial exploration of the island, they begin to divide tasks amongst themselves but later find that it is rather difficult to fulfill these tasks because most of them choose to ignore their assigned job. Piggy is the first person to notice this and begins the fighting among the group by chastising the members for the negligence…

He creates Piggy’s character vs. how the other boys view him, and as the story progresses, the specs become increasingly significant to everyone. Now how could a measly pair of glasses influence an entire island, and hold everybody’s life in its grasp? Golding alludes to the significance of Piggy’s specs by using repetition.…

William Golding’s Lord of the Flies writes about the ideas of people’s personalities and the evil within the human heart. Set within an island, a group of young boys set out to survive and be rescued; however, it is later seen how the boys end up being wild and savage when they’re left without adult supervision. Golding depicts Simon as a scapegoat whose exceptional persona on an island of chaos and anarchy makes him a target for the stranded boys’ hatred/evil. Starting early on in the novel, Simon shows a caring, generous personality, which becomes a stigma that he is “unique” in comparison to the other boys. Even though the norm for the biguns on the beach was to ignore or not help the littluns; Simon was different in that, “Simon found…
