The boys have a second meeting in the evening and Ralph tells them they are on an island. Ralph decides that the new rule is you can only talk if you are holding the conch shell. Ralph tells the boys they should have fun while they are on the island. He knows they will be rescued because the Queen has a map with every island on it. They decide to build a fire on the mountain so they can be seen and rescued. The fire got started with Piggy’s glasses. The choir was split into hunters and fire keepers. When the fire quickly burns out Maurice suggests that green branches be put on to create smoke. A large part of the jungle caught on fire and burns much of the dried material they needed for burning in the future. Piggy tells everyone that
