Why Did Jack Survive In Lord Of The Flies

In William Golding’s Lord of the Flies, friends get stuck on an island and are forced to cooperate to survive. As the boys splinter into factions, some behave peacefully and work together to maintain order. While, the other boys rebel and seek only anarchy and violence. The one group consists of Ralph, Piggy, and Simon who’s main plans are to survive and escape the island. On the other hand, Jack and his 'choir boys ' include Roger and some litteluns and are mainly concerned with hunting pigs and have no regard for basic needs like shelters. In Lord of the Flies the characters lose their sense of identity and morals in their strive for power which eventually causes devastation to everyone. Ralph is the leader of the group of boys who are trying to survive on the island. Piggy and Simon joined Ralph’s group because he showed the best characteristics of being a trustworthy leader and friend. He doesn’t have everyone’s respect though. Everyone in Jack’s tribe is celebrating over the killed pig and see Simon come crawling out of the woods. Jack and his tribe chant, “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” and singled out Simon, then stabbed him to death. This event was similar to Kristelnacht which was on the night in which Hitler sent his to troops to destroy Jewish businesses and homes in Munich. As well as the beating and murder of Jewish men, women, and children. As far as Hitler was concerned, this only proved the extent of the “Jewish world conspiracy.” Jack used a “scapegoat” to kill Simon he needed to get rid of just as Hitler did. Hitler and Jack both used their ruthless behavior on these nights and neither cared about the deaths. Jack proves this when others say, “The beast” turned out to be Simon, who was killed that night. Jack didn’t care.” This vicious monstrous act just shows the difference in which Ralph and Jack treat their tribe
