Overall Position
The view I am arguing for is: Humans are basically violent and savage

My argumentative claims are the reasons my overall position is true. They are

Claim 1: The boys on the island disregarded the rules
Claim 2: The boys turned into animals
Claim 3: The hunters, hunted very savagely

Evidence to back up my claims:

Evidence 1: Jack went against Ralph( the chief of the tribe) and broke off and decided he wasn't going to follow the rules and created his own tribe

Reasoning: This just goes to show that Jack followed the rules at one point, but then decided he was tired of them. He then goes on to even create his own outside tribe and plot against Ralph and

Which initially lead Jack and the others to paint their faces to hide better from pigs while hunting.

Reasoning: Jack and tribe paint their faces to hide better from the pigs while planning to kill them in a violent process. Their painted faces symbolize a mask in which Jack uses to hide from a functioning symbolized society.

Evidence 3: While hunting the pigs or anything really, the hunters had a chant. Which goes by "Kill the beast! Cut its throat! Spill its blood! Do him in!"

Reasoning: While hunting the hunters had a saying "Kill the Beast! Cut its throat! Spill its blood! Do him in!". A violent saying when they had been done killing something. For example with Simon, who was an existing member of the group has been violently killed by the hunters. While stabbing him with their sharp spheres they sang this chant. So even up to the point where they put a pig's head on a stick as a gift to the existing "beast".

This conversation is very ironic. These lines are ironic because the boys are talking to each other about the beast as if it was an animal. What they haven’t realized yet is that the beast is really them and the evil inside of them. I found it interesting how the boys haunted pigs and ate them, and in Chapter 8 the pigs head was the one who symbolized the “beast” or in other words the “Lord of the Flies.” It is really ironic how the boys spent so much time looking for the beast so they could kill it, and they were the beast.…

The farm animals in Puerto Rico were found with two puncture wounds on their necks, and they were drained of all of their blood. No meat was taken from the bodies. How can 150 farm animals be drained of all their blood so fast?…

LOTF Essay Could modern day society function without clear rules, laws, and enforcement of those rules? In Lord Of The Flies, William Golding uses symbolism and characters to show that humans need rules and enforcement of those rules in order to function effectively. Without them, humans naturally become savages, which leads to an unsustainable and dangerous society. The diminishing power of the rules, and the results of this is shown through the fire, the power and respect towards the conch, and Jacks changing attitude.…

When society breaks down, death and destruction incur. In the book The Lord Of The Flies by William Golding the effects of the breakdown of society is a major theme. Humans identities are formed when society’s rules and laws are non existent, and humans are forced to rely off of their own morals. This can be seen when Ralph’s tribe is demolished by Jack because of Jack 's different ideology . In addition, Piggy’s logic and intelligence when talking about advanced topics on the island also show how identity is formed through a lack of societal laws.…

To assert his dominance Jack calls for the hunters to do their pre-hunt dance. During this dance, Symone comes out of the forest in a beastly manner after discovering what was really on the hill. The boys react in a savage manner, “At once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt onto the beast, screamed, struck, bit, tore. There were no words and no movements but the tearing of the teeth and claws” (Golding 153). By using the terms “screamed, struck, bit, tore,” Golding is showing just how hungry for murder these boys are.…

The beast tells Simon “there isn’t anyone to help [him]” and the only thing that is there for him is the beast himself (Golding 143). Through this the reader can see the parallel Golding is making between the beast and the dark side. The beast says he is the only one there for him which means the only way of Simon surviving is to become a savage like the others, foreshadowing his death. When Simon attempts to warn the others of the terror of losing their innocence, they mistake him for the beast and end up murdering him. During Simon’s murder, the boys are chanting to “Kill the beast!…
