Looking for Alibrandi is a novel that originally published by the author Melina Marchetta in 1992 with young adult and bildungsroman genre. It's a story of a girl who is in her final year at school, brought up with an Italian background. Suddenly discovering the truth of her life, the truth of her family's secrets upbringing, falling in love and having to deal with her mother and Nonna's daunting and her father who she never saw until now all coming over to her life is just unbelievable.
Looking for Alibrandi highlights the cultural differences in Australia, especially with family life. Having a primary social group family, it affects strongly to our lives, although we never care about anything that relates to social groups. To have such an expanded family is a wonderful thing; however, Josie struggles to recognise herself as a part of her clan. I like the relationship between Christina and Josie; it's the true love between a mother and her daughter no matter what. It's really hard to see that Nonna can't get along with Josie and Josie can't get along with Nonna. Obviously, it's embarrassing and such a pain to live with. Can you even imagine after having a long day and not even fully entered the house but starting an argument standing right in front of the door for just a simple thing?. Josie's character feel so real to me because I can point out so many things that I went through to what Josie went through. I absolutely adore this book because the way the author communicates Josie's lifestyle. The author's point of view of this book is very eye catching and it's mostly relying on teenage girls, because once I start reading the book I immediately understood what is going through this

The Breathtaking Brown Girl Dreaming Initially when I began Jacqueline Woodson 's Brown Girl Dreaming I wasn 't convinced her choice of writing style was for me. I didn 't fully grasp how an autobiography could be written in verse and still flow like a narrative. However, Woodson laid to rest any concerns or doubts I may have had prior to starting this delightful novel. I have never been one to avidly seek out memoirs; I get bored with them after only just beginning them.…

This development will henceforth determine the path she takes in leaving the French Quarter. In this essay I will be discussing the experiences and traits of both Cheryl and April Raintree, and how I personally relate to them. The sisters are two very strong women, as displayed by Cheryl standing up for her beliefs and her pride in her identity, as well as April's resilience even in the toughest times. To begin, Cheryl's character is a strong, independent woman who knows what is right and will challenge those who don't respect her opinions and beliefs. The scene in chapter 4 where Cheryl talks back to her teacher is a prime example of said quality; even when sent to the principals office and had Mrs. DeRosier called, the young Cheryl stood her ground because she knew she was right. This trait resonates with me because I…
