Look At Your Fish In The Laboratory With Agassiz Analysis

For writing project one I used the essay “Look at Your Fish: In the Laboratory with Agassiz” by Samuel Scudder. I choose this essay because it was the most relatable. I also liked how it was short and simple and straight to the point, which helped me pick up the main idea of the essay quicker. I related to the learning style of Scudder and his struggle of picking out the details. Not only was this easy relatable, but it also contained great quotes that flowed into my essay stupendous lousy. My topic was easy to settle on because we had discussed different ways of learning in so many classes the first couple days at UNLV. Also, that is what most of the essays seemed to focus on and that is what sparked in my thoughts. Not only that but this

Red lobster is one of the world’s most famous casual/family seafood restaurants. It is been a staple of downtown Silver Spring’s eclectic dining community for more than 15 years. It is located just 10 minutes away from the Silver Spring Metro station, which allows the restaurant to have easy access to parking and transportation. Since downtown Silver Spring is a social and cultural melting pot, many different demographics have eaten at Red Lobster; however, I would say their main target market is definitely families and people between the ages of 29 to 55.…

Merlyn casts a spell and a man with an anchor tattooed on his stomach appears, and pointed his trident at Wart causing him to turn into a fish. Merlyn tells him for this once, he will go with him during his transformation as a tench fish of about five pounds and leather colored with small scales. To move, Wart must do jack knives as he cannot swim like he normally does. Wart notices that as a fish, the horizon looks like a big circle, and everything above the water was the entire spectrum of colors.…

I am my 4-H club’s president. My club has 52 people in it with most of them being under the age of ten. Sometimes I regret running for president, but then at other times I feel it is a great leadership experience. The duties of a president are not only running the meetings and showing animals. It is about helping out the community, helping the younger members with their projects and teaching them how to be a better person and also teach them responsibility with taking care of their animals.…

One thing you can never change is who you are on the inside, your origins, and a beautiful quote that represents this understanding is “Some people like you, some people don't. In the end, you just have to be yourself “ ( Andres Iniesta). Similar to this quote, in the passage “Fish Cheeks” by Amy Tan, the narrator Amy falls in love with a boy named Robert (The Minister's son). The way her culture lives is very distinct to the way Robert lives, because of this she is appalled by the way her family eats in front of their family and is disgusted by their actions. Similarly in the Passage “Aria: A Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood” by Richard Rodriguez, the narrator Richard is distinguishing himself from his family because he grew more attached to…

Coincidentally, love and judgement come in a variety of forms. Society has set ‘standards’ on people, on the way they look and act. For example, there could be two odd-looking people who are in a relationship. Some may say “Why are they together? They do not look good together,” or create unnecessary rumors and assumptions.…

Nutrition Perspectives I chose to do my project on the book "Why We Get Fat and What to do about it" by Gary Taubes. In all honesty I choose this book by narrowing the list down to what looked interesting and finding which one was readily available at the library. That said, I am always interested in new perspectives on weight and weight loss. I enjoy learning what other views are in regards to this topic. Faulkner mainly focuses on Vardaman referencing animals, in the form of metaphors. The significance of Vardaman using a fish to symbolize his mom, is so the reader can understand his despair. Vardaman is contemplating people’s existence on earth and what life truly means. “I will be where the fish was, and it all cut up into not-fish now (Faulkner 53).” Vardaman questions if his mom is not an alive anymore, does that mean she never was?…

Knowledge is endless and I 'm lucky to be able to say I only know such a small percent but continue to find out more each day. This class has really been intriguing to me, because I am able to learn outside of class and there are so many resources available. I love reading the assigned articles, watching the videos, and exploring the websites. I 'm going to do this essay a little different than the last and write in categories and what I learned in each. I 'm going to start with the articles, then the book, and then the videos, each having something important to say or to point out.…
