PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
*0-18months:- a newborn will depend on their reflex movements to enable them to feed or grasp objects. They move their legs in a walking movement when held upright. By the time they are 6 months old they will have developed more control over their bodies and be able to roll over and lift their heads and chest off the floor. Children’s development begins at birth and each area of development should follow a specific pattern, for example a baby will need to learn to hold their head up before they can sit unaided. The sequence of development is common among most children but the rate of development will differ as children progress and grow at different speeds. A child could accomplish milestones quicker in one area of development than another child, for example, walking, but this child may then take more time to reach language milestones.
