I learned that students were struggling with different areas across the country. As a first-year resident advisor, a second-year student, I decided what I would focus on for when I started my career. I decided that as a student and later as a professional I would work and research with areas revolving student transition, retention, and graduation. The program will be the first step in a long line of steps I need to take for me to achieve my overall goal of working in the aforementioned areas. However, the goal is to work throughout several departments in higher education leading me to a position in academic retention and student success, or enrollment and student services.
