People take food for several reasons. Just like a power station or any other machinery requires fuel or gas to run their turbines and generate energy, our bodies also need energy. The human body requires energy that comes from food to power itself and to enable it run smoothly. The foods that people eat provide them with different nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, water and fats (Kuskowski, 2013). Other nutrients that we generate from food include proteins and carbohydrates among others.
