I visited Village Manor in Spring 2014 when I was taking Long Term Care Administration class (HCA 345). Village Manor is a long term care facility located on 1800 Westen Street, Bowling Green, KY. It is a part of Christian Care Communities. According to Christian Care Communities’ website, “Christian Care Communities is Kentucky’s largest faith-inspired, non-profit provider of affordable senior living and long-term care for Older Adults”. It was founded in Louisville in 1884. Village Manor has been expanded significantly since my visit in 2014. It became a combination of multiple facilities under one roof. village Manor is the only senior living community in Bowling Green that offers the full care in assisted living, assisted senior care, memory care, and skilled nursing care, in addition to beautiful apartments. We went to different sides of Village Manor and we took a tour into assisted living section, assisted senior care, memory care, and skilled nursing care. Also, we had a chance to see the kitchen and how it is organized to meet the rules and regulations of safety and quality of care. The kitchen was clean and the work there was done professionally. We saw the schedule of meals, and how they prepare them. Also, we saw how do they clean the dishes using some techniques to control the infection. Also, we saw how they store the goods in the storage and the huge cooler. Then, we continued our tour and saw what surprised me. They have two salons (one for each floor) they do hair and nail services which means, for those residents who are not able to drive or cannot go outside for any reason, there is no need to make a trip and the barber or stylist would be down the hall waiting. We had a chance to look at a sample of a residency rooms and how the management working hard to make it a homelike facility. The rooms that we looked at were having bright colors, TVs, fridge, and beautiful

This module contained A LOT of information but it coincided with last week’s discussion as well! This week we discussed the major types of health care providers and professionals (ranging from physicians, clinicians, RN’s, LVNs, ect.) within long-term care facilities. One thing that I thought was very interesting was the fact that long-term cares administrators, if they are indeed the general manager, are on 24/7 call all year round. Although this makes complete sense, I just never realized how demanding the position could be!…

Many people with chronic illnesses or disabilities require the care of a medical professional, such as a physical therapist or registered nurse. Many people believe that if they have an employer-based health insurance plan or Medicare, then the cost of their long-term care will be covered. However, it is important to note that an employer-based health insurance plan will not pay for the cost of long-term care.…

Upon arriving, I’m greeted with the bustling excitement of the villagers. Most of them seem to be gathering near a large building near the center of the village. The houses all seemed to be similar but on a smaller scale, one story houses with walls made of wood and a roof thatched with dried grass or twigs. A group of about five men stood off to the side, lifting large rocks in what I assumed to be some kind of competition. To my left I could hear children laughing as they played with rough wooden swords with some sort of fabric tied around the handle.…

Long Term Care: The Need for Change. Long term care (LTC) has been classified as both medical and non-medical services developed to meet the needs of those who suffer from disabilities or chronic illnesses. Most often LTC services are only assumed to be provided in facilities associated with assisted living and nursing home disciplines. Long term care can be provided informally or formally with tasks that include "around- the-clock" care, including meals, housekeeping, and laundry services. Due to these settings, LTC is often associated with aging populations, however long care term may be needed by people of various ages in multiple settings.…

Reflection Paper on The Village (2004) In the film, The Village, a primitive society of people is influenced by the legends told by the elders, resulting in their containment within the boundaries of the village. They are held there by their belief in the existence of the creatures said to live just beyond the village in the surrounding woods. This belief system follows many of the claims made by Durkheim, including his views on the presence and power of the supernatural or divine. The Village demonstrates that a community that holds the same beliefs and respect for those beliefs may maintain social stability, though the foundation of their system may be false.…
