Even Elvin Brinker, a cop who’d been on the force a year longer than Dutch and Hunter, had his say even though he had yet to make detective. “He’s a nuisance. Hunter doesn’t know when to call it quits. I suppose you could consider his persistence as an asset in this line of work, but men like him end up beating a dead horse until it turns zombie and gallops away.” DK laughed at Brinker’s comment.…

The halls had once been crowded at the Church of the Revealing Light. During times of war, people were naturally drawn to the church, like moths to a flame. The memories still throbbed in the back of Vect’s mind, a time when warlords drowned nations in blood and engines of war marched the land. It was a time when people gave his church thanks and gifts rather than scorn and ridicule, but that was decades ago. When the fighting was over, the victor of that great conflict took power.…

I slowly walked into Khleo’s office which seemed weird and felt very old fashioned at the same time. Kind of surprised me though because from what I had heard about Khleo he didn’t seem like a well-organized type of person.
