Long Harbor Scene Summary

The scene is set on December 14th in Long Beach, California. Jeanne starts the chapter by remembering her how her brothers and father would leave to go fishing. She explains how all the boats out to shore look like little white specks, then them suddenly turning around. The day these boats left harbor was the day of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Jeanne shows her innocence by not even knowing what Pearl Harbor was at the time. Her father, Papa, goes home and burns his flags and all his Japanese memorabilia, but is still arrested and charged with a crime.
