In the novel Of Mice and Men Lennie is one of the main characters who shows loneliness and isolationism. The first sign Lennie shows about loneliness and isolationism is fear. Lennie is quite different from everyone else. Everyone always wants to pick on Lennie and sometimes Lennie doesn’t say anything back. He sits around and waits for George to say something for him. Lennie really cares for George and is afraid for George to leave him. One example of how Lennie is afraid for George to leave him is the quote, ‘’You ain’t gonna leave me are you George?” (103). The first sign of loneliness and isolationism that Candy shows is sadness. Candy is different from all the other characters because he stays to himself when he’s sad instead of trying to get sympathy from everyone. The quote ‘’I’m so used to him’’ (45) shows that candy is afraid to lose something that he has had since it was born, or that he had loved so much. Candy was so upset and heartbroken when the day had finally come when his dog was about to lose it’s life. The only thing candy did that whole day was laid in bed all day and thought about what just happened that day. Another quote from the novel that shows that Candy is going through loneliness and isolationism is the quote ‘’maybe it’d hurt him’’ (45). This quote means that Candy is afraid that if he says yes to them killing the dog then it will hurt the dog and deep inside it will hurt him. Candy really doesn’t wanna kill his dog he’s very indecisive about the situation. The quote ‘’maybe tomorrow ,les wait till tomorrow’’ is showing that he’s scared to really say yes to them killing his dog. This quote is really important because it shows the meaning behind the quotes that really describes him, his feelings, and emotions, towards everything that’s …show more content…

All of the quotes that i’ve stated in my personal essay can be related to real life situations because of the emotions the characters were feeling or some of the things the characters were saying. There’s situations that are in the novel that happens in real life that most people actually go through. This novel has a big impact on our society because there are people that actually gets treated poorly because of their color or because of the decisions that the person has made. Although I don’t feel like someone should be mistreated because of their color or because of the decisions that person chose to make. Most people might make the wrong decision but can really be a nice person. All people are not bad people based off some of the decisions they make, most people make decisions based off of the predicament they are in or how they feel and if they feel it’s right or
