London plays a large role in today’s economy worldwide as it has for centuries. From the beginning, London has been a place for many people to call home, including the royal family who are a large part of the culture today. The basic history of London is one of the oldest stories ever told. London’s began as a simple port due to the depth of the water under the bridge. The Romans were the founders of the current day London (Lambert). The city was originally referred to as Londinium. London first appears in history as a small military storage area for the Romans (David). The economics and leaders of London have changed many times throughout history. The crown is passed down through bloodlines The eldest son of the king is the next in line for the crown (Molyneaux) If the king and queen do not have a son then the eldest daughter will be queen. If all the direct children of the king or queen are deceased then the crown is passed to the next descendant of a previous royal (CGP Grey).
The current royal family may be one of the most important families in London today. Queen Elizibeth II is the current queen of England. She has reigned since she was 25 years old a total of 64 years ("British Royal Family History."). Next in line for the throne is Prince Charles the Prince of Wales. Prince William is the Duke of Cambridge and is second in line for the throne ("The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge."). The current Monarchs have a much smaller role in the government today compared to the previous centuries.
London today has many different things to keep you occupied during the day. By this I mean the attractions are a plenty. The tower of London was a royal residence until the 17th century. Tower of London once served as a royal palace as well as a political prison.( “London, Tower of.”). Another attraction is Buckingham Palace. It was built in 1703 by the Duke of Buckingham. ("Buckingham Palace."). Another interesting site would be the 2012 Olympic Center located in East London’s Lower Lea Valley (Durrani
