London and New York City are two of the most historic and popular cities of all time. London and New York are two very prolific cities, whom both hold their own right. These two cities are rich in history and have evolved into the major key cities . Throughout the course of this paper , it will explore the history of immigration of both but also how population growth has transformed transportation and crime. An increased population growth due to immigration, has shown a rise in crime, but also have brought creative ideas on the expansion of transportation and new culture ideals and beliefs .It will be revealed to the reader the evolution of these two cities’ urban history from the beginning to today’s world.

Immigration In the late 1800s , America became the land of new opportunities and new beginnings and New York City became the first landmark for immigrants. New York City was home to Ellis Island, the area in which migrants were to be handed for freedom to enter the nation.
Ellis Island opened and it provided a great change to American society. northern and western Europe–Germany, Ireland, Britain and the Scandinavian countries–slowed, more foreigners poured in from southern and eastern Europe. Among this new era were Jews getting away from political and financial abuse in czarist Russia and eastern Europe (exactly 484,000 landed in 1910 alone) and Italians getting away destitution in their nation.
