Lois Lowry's Number The Stars

Number the stars is a wonderful book about Ellen and Annemarie, 2 ten-year-old girls that are best friends. They go through a lot and their bond only gets stronger when Nazis show up and Annemarie has to protect Ellen because she is a Jew. Even though they go through so many troubles, it only makes them stronger.
Number the stars somehow pulled you into itself, for example, when the Nazis boarded the boat, I felt scared. Not just worried but actually scared. I was scared for the safety of all the characters.
The book was very realistic and was described so well but still had space for imagination so that I could picture what it would look like in my own way. Number the stars were in past form and in the third person but focused more on

Every page was filled with suspense and action and emotion.
I would not say it was an easy read but neither was it challenging. I think this would be a suitable book for grade 5-9s to read. It has lots of suspense and has a large vocabulary, but not too large for younger kids to understand.
Lois Lowry has written more than 30 books including The Giver, Gathering Blue, Son and a Summer To Die. The main characters in this story are Annemarie, her family her best friend Ellen and her Family. Then the other characters where The soldiers and townspeople The characters all had a strong connection between them. Ellen and Annemarie were very close friends that had many memories together. Then everyone had a relationship with the soldiers that had taken over.
The thing that made the characters interesting was that they all had such different character and personalities. Sassy, sensitive, passionate, brave, carrying. All the characters carried these traits, they just showed in different ways
One of the things I learned from Number the stars is that bravery is not always what it looks like.
My favorite character was Kristy because she was so sassy and brave. She grew up with the soldiers around her so she treated them whatever way she wanted without being

Courage is not something that is integrally human, especially in times of war when one’s life is at most risk. This time is when ones integrity is challenged the most: there are few who hope to preserve this integrity and their humanity through altruistic acts in times when kindness is a mirage. When most people’s foremost thoughts are of their self-preservation, altruism preserves and strengthens ones integrity and humanity when one risks their life for the survival of others and keeps their honor intact. In the novel The Cellist of Sarajevo, Canadian author Steven Galloway illustrates the internal moral crisis people face when confronted with their own mortality and the pain and suffering of those worse off. Galloway brilliantly demonstrates…

I believe that Lois Lowry named this Book “Number The Stars” because God knows all of his creations by name, including the Jews. And even though they were going through rough times,God was watching over them all the same. The name of the book speaks in volumes to me, it sets the meaning of the book in three simple words. What I personally believe the inner meaning of the title is simply don’t give up. And throughout the story that is exactly what the Jews did, they never gave up hope that the war would end, and it did.…

Maureen Johnson is an American author of young adult fiction and is recognized for the Shades of London series, including The Name of the Star. Johnson’s style is easily characterized by long, complex sentences, extensive use of allusion, and a modern story-telling ability. Mediocre metaphors aside, The Name of the Star is a well-developed novel through Johnson’s use of beautiful descriptions and believable dialogue. The novel is a part contemporary, part paranormal thriller, marked by two different tones throughout. Johnson’s novel, The Name of the Star, demonstrates her contemporary and stylistic approach while also dealing with the theme of adapting to drastically different changes in life, by allowing Aurora, the protagonist, to undergo…
