The purpose of this document is to provide information about Lockheed Martin’s use of social media. Its social media goals, target audience, and effectiveness will be thoroughly analyzed.

Social Media Overview

Lockheed Martin implements a variety of social media platforms to promote their services and provide information to users. The company displays its general social media feed through its website. Further information can be found through Lockheed’s LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook pages. Lockheed has a general goal of strengthening their company image through social media. However, they use different social media platforms to promote different topics.

They have over 300,000 followers and post semi-weekly. Lockheed’s Facebook content is a mix between military, defense, new technology, and company information. Unlike Lockheed’s LinkedIn and Twitter where there is a focus on certain topics, its Facebook page consists of many types of posts. One post could be about strengthening security and the next would be about new technology used to prevent concussions. Lockheed provides a more complete look at their company through their Facebook, whereas the other two social media platforms provide a more in-depth look at specific fields. Like the other platforms discussed, Lockheed’s purpose on Facebook is to strengthen the company image. They are successfully doing so by providing interesting information about the company to their followers. Lockheed’s Facebook page appeals to a larger demographic than their other two social media platforms. It consists of the general user who may have an interest in the company.
