With Locke’s argument I have a better understanding because I can relate it to our way of living in America. People from all over the world travel to America for our freedom that we have because their home countries government have taken full control of their people and want them to live the way they see “best”. Imagine living and walking around in a country where you constantly live in fear of each other, it would be like living in Hobbes state of nature. We Americans are free to practice whatever religion we please, wear what we want, eat the food we want without control from our government. Though we do have some limitations such as we can’t harm one another mans liberty either and we do have consequences for those who do such as Locke. “And that all men may be retrained from invading others’ rights, and from doing hurt to one another, and the law of nature be observed,” (Locke, 3). We also have other laws in place for our protection such as stopping at a stop sign so you don’t get hit by another vehicle, but the overall aspect we are free country. Locke and Hobbes both make strong arguments but they were in different time eras, which can lead to a different thought
