The most useful event for my learning was practicing a lockdown and shelter-in drill. During a lockdown, students need to remain silent and quickly move out of sight and away from the door. During a shelter-in, students need to remain inside the building and follow directions of the staff. Since the incident of Florida occurred, the Director decided to conduct a lockdown and shelter-in drill that emphasized the importance of safety, when an attacker is present on the premises. The Director explained that preparation and procedure is critical to protect staff and students from perilous situations. The director simulated a scenario playing the attacker role, where staff and students hid silently out of vision to avoid detection. In addition,
