1. The Wintry precipitation of Friday dropped sleet, snow, and freezing rain on roads across the state throughout the day, causing treacherous conditions on roads and leaving surface streets in varying degrees of drivability. An SUV near Guess Road, Durham, lost control in front of a FedEx truck on I-85. The truck slid across lanes to avoid it, although no injuries were caused, the interstate was closed while the truck got back on track. Durham police recorded 40 total traffic accidents on Friday, January 22nd, most of them involving single vehicles sliding on slick roads and none resulting in serious injuries. The Durham county Sheriff 's Office also reported six accidents. An estimated 400 flights were canceled or delayed at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport as the winter storm continues through the weekend across the northeast.

A local pharmacy near downtown Raleigh, called the Person Street Pharmacy, did a good deed during the winter weather and decided to take customers prescriptions to them since they couldn 't come out of their house, making sure the people get the medicine that they depend on. For instance, a woman by the name of Mary Daeke, 80, lives about 10 minutes away from the pharmacy, in Raleigh 's Mordecai neighborhood.
