As a wise person once said, “Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to.” This quote is connected to “Lob’s Girl” because Mrs. Pearce and her determination played an extraordinary role in saving the life of Sandy Pengelly; without her, the story’s ending could have been terribly tragic. The dog, Lob, might have eventually given up as to being unable to reach the girl, Sandy. Sandy might not have woken up for a long time or at all! Another possible ending could have been that Sandy would have woken up over time, and been greeted by Lob at the front of the hospital.
