If you aren't familiar with wedges, your pitching wedge can be your most valuable tool. Don't be afraid to use it on your approach, chip shots, and even in the bunker.

Fact 6: Wedge Distance

Wedges can take the average male golfer from 40-80 yards down the fairway. For women the distance range is from 25-60 yards. The fact is that everyone has about 10 yard between wedge clubs. If you know what your distance is with a pitching wedge you can figure out the rest.

The Difference: 10 yards difference is a huge margin on the golf green. This makes your golf club choice more critical. Knowing your distance will help you choose the right wedge and control the outcome of your golf game.

Realistically, a golfer should work on all areas at the same time in order to keep the body in balance as overall strength improves. Balance - Improving balance is generally a function of improving one's stance and the development of a consistent tempo. The proper stance requires a golfer to be relaxed with the feet positioned shoulder length apart and their inside shoulder pointed at the target. From a proper stance, the golfer will be in the optimum position to start developing a consistent and reliable tempo. One of the reasons why instructors preach against over-swinging is because it throws the golfer's body completely out of balance, which translates to an inability to control the direction in which the ball is going to…

Many historians believe that golf came from a Roman game called, Paganica. The game was played with a bent wooden stick and a ball made of leather (probably filled with feathers or with air). However, even if we can find some resemblance with the ancient golf balls, it seems that Paganica balls were bigger, in the range of 5.5 inches (15 cm) of diameter. The objective was to hit a pre-selected target (a tree, a rock or something similar) or, according to other sources, there were two teams playing in opposite directions like in Hockey (The Complete History of Golf).…
