Lloyd George, a British Prime Minister during World War I, once said, “We shall have to fight another war again in 25 years time.” This foresight was given in response to the ratification of the Treaty of Versailles. Correct in his prediction, George knew that another war would be looming on the horizon. Contrary to his belief, many countries breathed a sigh of relief, as the intended effect of the Treaty was thought to be peace after a long, devastating war. Only twenty one years later, however, World War II began.
