How To Keep Your New Vinyl Siding Clean

One of the big advantages of vinyl siding is that it is so easy to maintain. Your siding will look good for years if you wash it occasionally. No matter where you live, the siding will collect dirt and grime from the air. If you live in a city with pollution problems, or if you live near a dirt road, your siding will get dirty quicker. Also, if your home is in the shade most of the day, mold may grow on the vinyl. Fortunately, vinyl is very easy to clean, especially if you use a pressure washer or hose with a power nozzle. Here are a few tips for keeping your new vinyl siding in good shape.

You can even buy products for specific stains such as a mildew remover. Be sure to follow the instructions so you don't damage the siding with the chemicals. For instance, you don't want to use bleach that has not been diluted. You should also avoid strong acidic or abrasive cleaners that can pit or scratch the vinyl. The best way to avoid problems is to make sure the label says the product is safe to use on vinyl.

Also, take care with the way the products are used. It is best to apply them with an attachment to a pressure washer or hose. You can also mix the solution in a bucket and apply it to the siding with a soft brush. Just avoid using a scrubber that will scratch the vinyl. Another thing to keep in mind when using soapy cleaners is to rinse them thoroughly before they dry on the vinyl, or they may leave a film behind.

There is no set rule on how often you should clean your vinyl siding, but if you want to keep it looking like new, you may want to do it once a year when you clean out your gutters and do other annual home maintenance. If you clean the siding often, there will be less grime built up, and the job will go much easier. When the dirt is light, you can probably remove it with a hose and long-handled brush, which is a fairly quick and easy
