Lizzie Bright And The Buckminster Boy Summary

Turner faces the most conflicts with his dad, Reverend Buckminster. It is hard enough being the minister's son but not being able to see his only friend because she's black. Being a Buckminster requires being a role model to the town of Phippsburg and to God himself. In “Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy” by Gary D. Schmidt, Turner is involved with a lot of person vs person conflicts. Turner gets in physical and emotional conflicts with his dad, Lizzie Bright, Mrs.Cobbs, Willis Hurd, and so on.

Turner gets in a lot of trouble with Mrs.Cobbs because she tattles on Turner to Reverend Buckminster. Then Turner has to play the oregon and read to Mrs. Cobbs for the rest of the summer. When Turner was coming back from the beach and had his shirt off and was throwing rocks at Mrs. Cobb's fence and she got very upset and went to

She also gets him in trouble a lot, he sneaks out to Malaga island, she secretly sits in Mrs. Cobbs house while Turner plays the oregon, and they both meet each other at the beach to practice baseball or collect clams. When Lizzie fell off the rocks and started bleeding Turner tried taking her back to Malaga Island by a boat he has never rowed before and ends up getting lost. By the time he gets back there is a crowd of people pulling Turner and Lizzie out of the boat. When Turner finally steps out of the boat he sees his father. Reverend Buckminster grounds Turner and smacks him because Willis said he saw Turner going to Malaga island but Turner didn’t go over there. This changes Turner because he doesn’t want to stop seeing Lizzie so he keeps getting in trouble over and over again because he thinks he already has the worst punishments he could have. He is already grounded, reading and playing the oregon to Mrs. Cobbs, and banded from Malaga island, Turner thinks that is the worst it could possibly get so he keeps breaking his dad’s
