Lizzie Borden took an axe gave her mother forty whacks, but did she really? Lizzie Borden should have been known as guilty to the U.S. justice system for the murders of her parents. Massachusetts, August 4th 1892 was the tragic day that someone murdered Abby and Andrew Borden. This case was dismissed because of lack of evidence. There is still controversy about how Lizzie should’ve been guilty there is no other suspects, but somehow she got around it.
Lizzie Borden was guilty in most people's eyes. She could have been proven guilty as in when questioned by the police her story kept changing. The evidence that was collected could point right to her, but when it got down to it that didn’t matter. When the police got to the house Lizzie had insisted that she didn’t do it and that she was out in the barn on the loft when the police went to the barn there was no footprints leading up there. When the house was looked at there was no sign of forced entry into the house and Lizzie was the only one home at this time. Another thing that puzzled police is that Lizzie being the only one home claimed to have her no noise of anyone being murdered. Many people have asked if not Lizzie then who? The only people that were in the house include Abby Borden, Andrew Borden, and Lizzie. The maid that worked for them was in town getting goods. Lizzie’s sister was out and about with the maid. The only other person living in the house was in another state visiting relatives and all these can be confirmed. Another thing people think as to why she is not guilty is because people may have wanted Andrew Borden dead after all he was a rich man. With all his wealth there would’ve been plenty of people that would do anything to get it from
