The terms living wage and minimum wage can sometimes be confused as being the same. However, in order to understand why poverty is occurring or what challenges need to be made. We must realize that both terms mean different things and play a different roll in poverty. Minimum wage is the minimum hourly wage an employer can pay an employee for their work (Wicks-Lim). A minimum wage is set by the government; it will usually fail to provide the basic requirements for a basic quality of life. This can leave families stranded and impoverished.
